A chance to see it again! A chance to see it for the first time! An encore showing of Hamlet, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, will be screened at the Bing Crosby Theater as part of the Bing's Stage to Screen series on Sunday, March 18 at 2 pm.
Seen by over 750,000 people since it was first broadcast by NT Live in 2015, this production of the beloved Shakespearean tragedy was described by a critic in Time Out Magazine as “one of the most visually and atmospherically stunning productions I’ve ever seen, of anything, ever.”
Academy Award nominee Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, The Imitation Game) joins Ciaran Hinds and Anastasia Hille as the dysfunctional royal family of Denmark. Cumberbatch’s Hamlet feels forced to avenge his father’s death but seems paralyzed by the enormity of the undertaking into tragic inaction, which threatens both his sanity and his country.
“This is a Hamlet for a world on the edge: a warning from history, and a plea for new ideas from a new generation,” says Matt Trueman in Variety.
