An exciting new promenade staging of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar has been filmed by NT Live at the brand-new Bridge Theatre in London and will be screened at the Bing Crosby Theater as part of the Bing's Stage to Screen series on Sunday, May 6th at 2 pm.
In this innovative staging, the audience will be part of the action as Caesar returns in triumph to Rome and the people pour out of their homes to celebrate. Alarmed by the autocrat’s popularity, the educated elite conspire to bring him down. After his assassination, civil war erupts, and only Marc Anthony can bring Rome back under control.
Nicholas Hytner’s promenade production will thrust the audience into the street party that greets Caesar’s return, the congress that witnesses his murder, the rally that assembles for his funeral and the chaos that explodes in its wake.
Ben Whishaw (London Spy, The Hour) is Brutus, Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones) is Brutus, David Calder (Lost City of Z) is Caesar and David Morrissey (The Walking Dead) is Mark Antony in this stripped down version of the Shakespeare classic, which will be shown without an intermission.
This production, as part of Friends Of the Bing’s Stage to Screen Series will screen at The Bing Crosby Theater on Sunday May 6th at 2:00 PM. Tickets for adults are $13 online and $15 at the door. Students are $7 online and $9 at the door. This show is sponsored by the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture (MAC), Bozzi Media, and Ruby Hospitality.
